Whether mixed media, vibrant watercolor, bold acrylic or shapely linoprints, all my artwork reflects a symbolism that borrows from the personal as well as the universal. The work is familial, intuitive, cultural, spiritual and, often, nature-driven. The universal aspect of my art derives from the subtle connotations of connecting with past experiences and shared truths. My work has evolved to create a visual statement of my reflections on traditional subjects in the natural world specifically rock, caves, stones, trees, the sea and shore using abstracted methods. No matter what the subject matter or media, line, shape and bold color dominate the work.
Some of the artists whose work has influenced my own include: John Singer Sargent (watercolors), Andrew Wyeth and Jim Dine as well as contemporaries,
Dean Mitchell, Carla O’Connor and Charles Reid.
